Do You Wake Up Tired Even After a Full Night’s Sleep?
Your internal body clock — your circadian rhythm — might be out of sync.
This clock controls when you feel sleepy or alert. When it’s working well, you wake up energized and ready for the day. When it’s disrupted, it can affect your mood, hormones, brain function, and has even been linked to depression, obesity, cancer, and heart disease.
The good news?
You can reset your rhythm by fixing the habits that throw it off.
1. Do You Keep a Regular Sleep Schedule?
Irregular sleep and wake times confuse your body clock.
Choose a consistent bedtime and wake-up time, and stick to them — even on weekends. This trains your body to wake up refreshed.
2. Do You Wind Down Before Bed?
If you work, scroll, or watch TV right up to bedtime, your brain stays alert.
Create a 30–60 minute wind-down routine:
- Warm bath
- Light reading
- Stretching
- Quiet music
Anything calming — just avoid stimulating activities, screens, or stressful thoughts.
3. Do You Turn Off Lights and Devices?
Light signals your brain to stay awake.
Phones, TVs, and bright bulbs can trick your body into thinking it’s daytime.
Dim the lights, switch off electronics, and let your body recognize that it’s time to sleep.
